Forgotten World Adventures

Discover the scenery & history of the Forgotten World in a truly unique ‘soft adventure’ experience. Hidden within the Forgotten World for close to a century, 140 kilometres of abandoned railway weaves through the historic and rugged King Country landscape between Okahukura (near Taumarunui) through to Whangamomona and on to Stratford. Travelling over 98 bridges and through 24 hand-dug tunnels, explore with us the remnants of the towns and settlements that grew and faded as the land was broken in and settled. Whether it is on the railway by Rail Cart or along the Whanganui River by Jet Boat, we offer a variety of tours to suit your time frame and desire to explore. Our 5 Tunnel tour operates year round. It's highlight is the 1.5 km tunnel and the beautiful brick lined tunnels, all hand dug nearly a century ago.
