SMEG Stand: New and larger than ever

The Waikato Home & Garden Show’s largest exhibitor returns with the most complete presentation of SMEG and Baumatic appliances in their seven year history at the event. With everything from the latest ovens, cook-tops, fridges, rangehoods, dishwashers and even race cars, the SMEG and Baumatic stand is a must-see for those seeking inspiration, advice, or special Home Show deals.

The SMEG Cooking Theatre, in association with New World, is where visitors can see the appliances brought to life, and also sample or buy delicious tasting food.

The focus is on celebrating everything local. Heading the line-up is champion of Waikato food Vicki Ravlich-Horan, editor of Nourish magazine and chairperson of Waikato Food Inc. Joining her are chefs from iconic restaurants like Iguana and Domaine. They include New Zealand Beef and Lamb ambassador, Brad King (Falls Retreat), Matt Macaskill (Good Neighbour), Luke McGowan (Dough Bros), Toby Elliottyson and Carl Houben (Smith & McKenzie), and Adrian Hodgson from The District Eatery. All will share professional tips and great dishes from the freshest local ingredients courtesy of New World.

Local culinary personalities, including Emma Sinclair (Emma's Food Bag) and Deborah Murtagh (Whole Food Secrets), are offering nutritional advice. Megan Muldowney, ex café owner and qualified teacher with popular baking blog www.thecafebaker.co.nz, is nervous but excited to be sharing some of her skills at the show.

On Saturday and Sunday Nic Brockelbank (13) will be showing kids (and adults) how to have fun in the kitchen. Immensely enthusiastic about food and cooking, Nic is the author of two successful cookbooks. The books will be on sale at the show, with half of the profits going to research into muscular dystrophy, from which Nic suffers.

Visitors to The SMEG Cooking Theatre can also go in the draw to win an amazing Simon Gault sous chef hamper.

Purchase the latest products at competitive prices at the SMEG and Baumatic stand. As well as show specials, there will be clearance deals. On offer are more than 50 new models and over 250 models of appliances at huge show deals. New models include mini retro fridges, a range of ovens with soft close doors, and the refined Classic Series, originally designed in collaboration with famous Italian architect Guido Canali 30 years ago.

And there are many chances to win. Buy any SMEG appliance and go in the draw to win a cooking class for 10 (bring nine friends) with New Zealand’s most loved celebrity chef and SMEG ambassador, Simon Gault. Customers who purchase from the range of Baumatic appliances go in the draw to win a Baumatic 7 bottle wine cooler valued at $599.

Exciting motor vehicles are a regular feature on the SMEG stand and this year is no exception. Pride of place is the rare and extraordinary luxury supercar Mosler MT900R GT, which raced in the Australian GT Championship before arriving in New Zealand three years ago. With its 7L, 700 horsepower Chevrolet engine, this monster can reach speeds over 300kmh, making it one of the fastest closed-cockpit racecars in the country.

Also on show is the championship winning Simon Evans, SMEGRACING V8 Supertourer. Ambassador for SMEG in the past year, the car won its way around New Zealand race tracks, demonstrating top professionalism and teamwork to take the title. Visitors wanting to experience what it is like to drive this stunning vehicle can try their hand at the SMEG RACING simulators and go into the draw to win a VIP V8 Super tourers VIP Experience for two at Hampton Downs.

SMEG Train

The SMEG train is programmed to run from the show's main entrance adjacent to the Arena, directly to the special access to the SMEG pavilion through the Outdoor Living Court.

All this and more make it well worth a visit to the SMEG and Baumatic stand at the Waikato Home and Garden Show.
